Sad News from Steve Schirripa

Steve Schirripa, known for his role as Bobby “Bacala” Baccalieri on “The Sopranos,” expressed concerns about being typecast as a mobster due to his appearance and voice. Despite his initial breakthrough in acting with “The Sopranos,” Schirripa has successfully diversified his roles, playing a suburban dad on “The Secret Life of the American Teenager” and a detective on “Blue Bloods.”

He acknowledges the limitations imposed by his physique and voice but is grateful for his 21-year acting career. Schirripa remains open to mobster roles, as evidenced by his recent partnership with Sir Kensington’s, where he humorously guarded a billboard. Besides acting, he cohosts the “Talking Sopranos” podcast with Michael Imperioli and co-authored “Woke Up This Morning,” an oral history of “The Sopranos,” set to release in November.
